By contrast, among Asian Americans, an upward shift occurred in the second generation at every level of the distribution. Educational attainment was higher among Asian Americans than among Latinos. Between the second and third generations, the full distribution of BMI also shifted upward, but the skewness of the distribution did not increase constantly: Third-generation respondents were those born in the United States whose parents both of them and possibly grandparents; this category refers to those who were third generation or later were also born in the United States.
